Full lightening or highlights – which should you choose?

When you want to go light, the choice is usually between full lightening, where all the hair is lightened, and highlights, where parts of the hair keep their natural tone. They give a different feel and need different upkeep.

Full lightening

With full lightening the entire head is lightened to an even level. It gives a clear, uniform base and is common when aiming for platinum or a really light blond. Because all the hair is treated, it needs more upkeep and rebuilding care.

Highlights

With highlights, selected sections are lightened and the rest keeps its natural colour. It adds depth and movement, grows out more softly and is gentler on the hair because not everything is lightened at once.
